The Age of Lunacy
We are living
in an era that will one day be recognised as the age of lunacy. There are so
many views held by society that have become distorted and divorced from reality,
from multiple genders to fear of doom due to global warming (since changed to
climate change because the ice caps did not melt, and land masses did not sink
under rising seas.) Gender questions are simply answered by a person’s genes,
every cell in your body, except red blood cells, has either XX or XY genes. A
very few people might have XXY and develop as a hermaphrodite but that is very
rare and medical staff may have to decide on allocating a gender and whether
surgery is required. They will not be as suggested by the cartoon South Park
where Mrs Cartman was both her son’s Father and Mother.
Gender
dysphoria is a mental aberration and should be addressed as a mental problem,
many people with this condition are prone to suicide, this propensity is not
diminished by gender reassignment surgery. Surgery may in fact make the
condition worse and increase the risk of suicide. Part of the problem comes
from trying to create greater equality between the sexes by making them more
alike. Being identical doesn’t make people equal, that comes from
understanding, people are equal but different, enhancing the differences can
lead to much better balance and greater equality. Recognising the strengths and
weaknesses of each gender can lead to better support and cooperation, and more
balanced individuals. Cultures that provide this support find that couples work
together when they have defined responsibilities and duties to the family and
the community.
Gender confusion
is a societal problem and disrupts the community, climate extremism is an
economic and ecological problem which is moving to destroy everything that has
made western society, successful and wealthy, in addition it is based on a false premise.
It is also leading to serious damage to the ecology of the world. It is time to
take note when even the CEO of Toyota is warning that EVs are a scam. We have spent
decades removing lead and mercury from the environment but are now producing
voluminous amounts of cadmium, cobalt
and lithium (which can be so much worse) to replace them. At the same time, we
are not only risking the environment unnecessarily but destroying
economies by banning anything that produces
carbon dioxide.
The fear
mongering that has surrounded carbon dioxide is totally misguided; the world can
benefit from more CO2 in the atmosphere and despite the opinion of many
climate scientists the world’s physicists and geologists agree that CO2
is not the driver of climate that some
would have us believe. There have been periods during ice ages when CO2
levels were far higher than they are today, solar cycles, long term climate
cycles and volcanic activity can all have a profound effect on climate. We are
pushing the poorest members of society to invest in expensive electric vehicles
and have pushed up power prices so high that most production has moved to parts
of Asia where production is so much cheaper. The difficulty with that is that
all goods must then be transported, mainly by ship to the end users. This
necessitates the use of large container ships, any five of which will consume
more fuel than all the cars on Earth, running for a similar period; and there
are thousands of these plying the oceans twenty-four hours every day.
Western
societies are rushing to do away with all fossil fuels and replace power
generation with wind and solar. The wind and solar “farms” that are being built
actually do enormous damage to the environment, they very often are built on
productive farmland, reducing the area available to grow food; or are resulting
in the destruction of pristine wilderness. The wind turbines and solar panels all have a limited lifecycle
and after 15-30 years will cease to function. They cannot be recycled and so
will wind up in landfill,
compared to many old coal fired or hydro plants which have been operating for
over a century. Replacements will be imported, probably from China, again in
large container ships, the construction of the towers requires coal and steel,
the blades use balsa wood from the Amazon Rain Forests and fibre glass and
carbon compounds. During use, dust and particles in the air degrade the fan
blades on the turbines causing them to shed micro-plastics into the
environment.
The large
windmills look graceful turning in the wind but are so large the tips of the
blades are travelling at over one hundred kilometres an hour, which can be
deadly for birds who mistakenly believe they can safely fly past a turbine. The
wind is not enough to start these monstrosities turning, they must draw power
from the grid before they can even commence rotating, often it is not the wind
turning them but power from fossil fuels. I am not against wind power, in fact
I think it is a good alternative, but my knowledge of physics says we are using
one of the most expensive and inefficient designs that could have been chosen.
A Savonius vertical axis rotor would have been far more efficient and could
have been from recyclable metals. These type of rotors have been used to pump
water in the Middle East for thousands of years, many of them with wooden
blades, which are easy to replace, are renewable and old blades can be utilised
as firewood. Smaller generators could be built nearer to the end users of the
power negating the need for thousands of kilometres of transmissions lines.
The cost of producing
a wind turbine is so expensive that it is probable many of them will not
recover that cost in their limited lifetime. It is also probable that the CO2
saved by wind generation will be less than the CO2 produced in
constructing and transporting the turbine. The only thing that has made wind power
attractive to investors is the taxpayer subsidies that so many governments hand
out. There is a point at which these will cease and then the companies
operating the turbines will go bankrupt, as some have already failed.
Solar panels
are great but really have limited versatility, they are hampered by a short
lifecycle like wind turbines, but additionally they do not work at night, in
winter when days are dull or sometimes the panels might be covered in frost or
snow limiting their effectiveness, they are least efficient; at the very times
they are most needed. By far the most logical and reliable pollution free method
of power generation today is nuclear power. One kilogram of uranium can produce
as much power as three thousand tonnes of coal, small modular nuclear
generators are extremely safe and can be constructed near the cities and
factories where this level of power is required, again negating the need for thousands
of kilometres of expensive transmission lines.
Governments
will hopefully one day regain their senses and make reliable and inexpensive
energy available, enabling industry to flourish locally and manufacturing to
resume near where markets exist. This action will eliminate the vast amounts of
fuel required to transport goods halfway around the world to reach consumers. Although
I have stated that CO2 is not a problem for the environment there
are still steps, we can take to better control carbon and take advantage of the
increased productivity that comes from higher carbon levels. One geo-engineering
project that was mooted in Australia in the 1950’s was the opening of a channel
from Spencer Gulf to Lake Eyre.
The lake is
well below sea level and is quite seasonal, when it dries leaving large salt
flats and the water becomes very saline. When the rains fill the lake, it
becomes a haven for wildlife and rapidly fills with fish. When the lake is full
good rainfall is experienced in many of the crop producing regions and even the
Australian Alps benefit with greater snow coverage during winter. This of course
means more runoff in the spring and increased water in the fruit and vegetable
growing areas of the Goulburn and Murray Valleys. A channel opening Lake Eyre to
the sea would mean the lake would become permanent and stable, providing an
inland sea and drought proofing most of Australia’s crop producing regions.
Central Australia
could again become the tropical rainforest that it was five thousand years ago.
The inland sea would also provide additional fishing resources and a new
industry should develop. Personally, I would like to see fish such as
endangered sturgeon imported and released, enabling Australia to create a
caviar producing industry, while protecting the endangered species. The tidal flow
in the channel could also produce a large amount of hydro-electric power to
service the nearby states and industries. Unfortunately, most governments do
not look beyond the next election, and this is why this project has been put on
hold for the last sixty years. While proper education is lacking, and
governments rely on fear mongering to win elections nothing is likely to change
until people are starving and homeless, and then realise what governments have
done to them and how they have been conned and let down. While war looms on the
horizon the chances of an awakening is also looming, I only hope that
sufficient people survive to make the effort worthwhile or will Einstein’s
prediction that WWIII will blow us back to the stone age prevail. Be prepared.

I should start by telling you what bonafides I have for writing this. I am a retired aerospace engineer. A literal rocket scientist if you will. I worked on MX (Peacekeeper) Space Shuttle, Hubble, Brilliant Pebbles, PACOSS, Space Station, MMU, B2, the Sultan of Brunei's half billion dollar private 747 with crystal showers, gold sinks and 100 dollar a yard coiffed silk carpets. I designed a satphone installation on prince Jeffry's 757. I did all of the design work for the structure of Mark 1V propulsion module currently flying on at least 3 spacecraft that I know of. Some of the more exciting projects I have worked on are not shareable. My personal projects include a spin fishing reel with a 4.5 inch spool which is entirely my own designed, machined and assembled. It has 2 features that are patentable. A unique true flat level wind and a unique line pickup mechanism. I am also am FAA certified glider pilot and FAI certified gold glider pilot. I fly both full scale and model sailplanes. I am Microsoft certified and ComTIA A+ certified.
Solar panels are at best about 20% efficient. They convert almost 0% of the UV light that hits them. None of the visible spectrum and only some of the IR spectrum. At the same time as they are absorbing light they are absorbing heat from the sun. This absorbed heat is radiated into the adjacent atmosphere. It should be obvious what happens next. When air is warmed it rises. Even small differences in ordinary land surfaces are capable of creating powerful forces of weather like thunderstorms and tornadoes. These weather phenomena are initiated and reinforced by land features as they are blown downwind. It is all too obvious to me what will happen with the heat generated by an entire solar farm. Solar farms will become thunderstorm and tornado incubators and magnets.
Solar panels are dark and and they emit energy to the space above them when they are not being radiated. This is known as black-body radiation. Satellites flying in space use this phenomenon to cool internal components. If they didn't do this they would fry themselves.
So solar farms not only produce more heat in summer than the original land that they were installed on, but they also produce more cooling in winter, thus exacerbating weather extremes.
So I conclude with this. There is nothing green about green energy except the dirty money flowing into corrupt pockets.
There is no such thing as green energy. The science doesn't exist. The technology doesn't exist. The engineering doesn't exist. We are being pushed to save the planet with solutions that are worse than the problems.
